Description

Orloffs originally came from the Gilan Province of northern Iran, where they were originally known as the Chilianskaia. They became known as Orloffs when they were taken to Moscow and renamed by Count Orloff Techesmensky. Spangled Russian Orloff chicks are primarily red with brown streaks down the back, and light red chests, abdomens and wing tips. They have strawberry combs, beards and muffs, and clean, yellow legs and feet. Adult males have orange hackles with white tips, mahogany wings with white primaries, and solid black breast feathers with white tips. Adult females have mahogany plumage with white tips. Both male and female adults have well developed muffs and beards. They are a medium sized bird that produces brown eggs, but they are typically kept because of their uniqueness.
