Dark Brahma Bantam

Standard Brahmas were developed from a Malay and Cochin cross. Later, Brahma bantams were developed in England. Dark Brahma bantam chicks have brown backs and heads with two light brown stripes down the back. The wing tips, chest and abdomen are light brown. They have pea combs and feathered, yellow legs and feet. Adult males have silver penciled plumage pattern. The head is silvery white, and the hackle feathers are greenish black with silvery white narrow lacing. The main tail feathers are black, and the sickles are greenish black. The coverts are the same color but have white lacing. The leg and feet feathers are black. The adult females have a silvery gray head while each feather of the back, breast, body, wing bows and thighs are gray with black penciling. The hackle feathers are black, slightly penciled with gray and laced with silvery white.
