African Geese
African Geese are a large and distinctive breed known for their impressive size, striking appearance, and excellent productivity. They feature a prominent, fleshy “dewlap” (a flap of skin under their chin), which gives them a unique, characteristic look. Originally bred in China, they are often mistakenly referred to as “African” geese due to their name.
These geese are hardy and adaptable, making them suitable for various climates. They are excellent grazers and foragers, which helps reduce feed costs when kept in pasture-based systems. African Geese are known for their ability to produce a significant number of eggs, and they are also valued for their meat, which is rich and flavorful.
Their size and strength make them excellent protectors of their territory, and they are often used as natural guards for farms or homesteads. While they can be territorial and noisy, they are typically friendly when raised in the right environment and with adequate space. African Geeese are a great addition to any farm, whether for egg production, meat, or ornamental purposes.
